How to convert a PDF to JPG (every page as an image)
October 28, 2026 · 3 min read
A PDF is perfect for a complete document, but not always handy day to day. You want to post the first page of a brochure on social media, drop a diagram into a presentation, send one page of an invoice in a messaging app, or show a floor plan in an email without an attachment to open. In all these cases, it is simpler to have an image.
This guide explains how to convert a PDF to JPG online, what quality to expect, and which alternatives fit each use.
Convert a PDF to JPG, step by step
- Open PDF to JPG and drop your PDF.
- Page thumbnails appear, so you can see right away what will be converted.
- Click Download.
Every page of the PDF becomes a JPG image. If the document has a single page, you get the image directly; if it has several, the images are bundled into a ZIP archive.
The tool is free, up to 5 files per day, and the conversion happens in your browser: your PDF is not uploaded to our servers to be converted.
What image quality?
Pages are rendered at 144 dots per inch (twice the base resolution of a PDF) and saved as good-quality JPGs. In practice, an A4 page gives an image of about 1,190 × 1,680 pixels:
- more than enough for screens, messages and social media;
- fine for a presentation slide;
- a little tight for large, photo-quality prints.
If you need to print large, print the PDF itself instead: vector text stays perfectly sharp at any size.
JPG or PNG?
- JPG: light files, perfect for pages with photos and for sharing.
- PNG: lossless, better for screenshots with fine text or flat colours, but heavier.
If you need another format from your JPG images, the Convert a file page lists the available conversions (for example JPG to PNG).
Common uses
| Need | Tip |
|---|---|
| Post the cover of a document | Convert, then keep the first image |
| Send one page in a chat | Extract the page first with Split PDF, then convert it |
| Add a diagram to a presentation | Convert, then crop the image in PowerPoint or Keynote |
| Shrink an image before sending | Run the JPG through Compress an image |
Convert only part of the document
For a 50-page document where you only want one or two images, first extract the pages you need with Split PDF (for example range 3 or 5-6), then convert the small PDF. You avoid an unnecessarily large ZIP file.
And the other way round?
To combine images into a PDF, use JPG to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Will the text in the images be editable?
No, a JPG image contains no editable text. To rework the text of a PDF, use PDF to Word or Edit PDF.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Yes, if you know the password: you are asked for it when the file opens.
Why do I get a ZIP file?
Because your PDF has several pages and therefore produces several images. The iPhone Files app and most Android file managers open ZIP files with a single tap.
Do my documents leave my device?
Not for the conversion, which runs in your browser. Only the daily allowance count goes through our servers, without the document's content.
How many pages can I convert?
Every page of the document is converted. For a very long document, conversion can take a few extra seconds on an older phone.
