About HEIC files

HEIC (HEIF) is the default photo format of iPhones since iOS 11. It halves file size compared with JPG but is poorly supported on Windows and the web.

JPG (JPEG) is the most widespread photo format. Its lossy compression produces small files, ideal for the web and email.
